Permissions
Setup Permissions
The system includes configurable permissions that control how users access and interact with static data, such as test methods, test suites, products and clients.
These permissions allow organizations to provide read-only access where needed, while ensuring that only authorized users can make changes or publish data.
Viewing Static Data
Users can be granted permission to view static data without being able to modify it. This is useful when users need to reference configuration details from other areas of the system.
When a user has the View permission:
- They can access relevant items within the Setup menu
- They can open and review records such as test methods, test suites, products and clients
- All information is displayed in a read-only format
Users without any relevant permissions will not see the Setup menu options and cannot access the data, even via direct links.
How the View Permission Works
The View permission is designed to be the baseline level of access.
- Users with Manage or Publish permissions are automatically able to view data
- A View-only user can navigate and review data but cannot create, edit or publish
Administrators can assign this permission when managing user accounts via the User Accounts screen, where a dedicated View checkbox is available.
Editing & Managing Data
Users with Manage permission can create new records and update existing ones.
When Manage permission is assigned:
- Create and Edit options are available
- From the record view, users can navigate to the Edit screen
Users without Manage permission will not see editing options.
Publishing Data
Publishing is handled separately from editing to support controlled workflows, particularly in regulated environments.
Users with Publish permission can:
- Publish records such as test methods and products
- Perform publishing actions directly from the View screen
Users without Publish permission will not see any publishing options.
