The stock module helps you manage your inventory of materials and consumables. Within the stock module, a stock item is a record of the stock type you will use to record received batches.

Viewing Stock Items

To view a table of existing stock items, navigate to the Stock Items screen by selecting Stock > Stock Items from the main menu. This table shows the stock item name, item code, category, minimum stock quantity, and unit. Refine the stock items list with the search and filter tools:

• Search by stock item name or code
• Filter by category or units

The list of stock categories can be managed by following instructions on how to edit system lists. The system comes with a default list with the details as shown below:

Creating Stock Items

To create a new stock item:

1. Navigate to the stock item templates screen by selecting Stock > Stock Items from the main menu.
2. Select the [ Create] button.
3. In the Name field, enter a name for the stock item this will represent. The name can be a maximum of 100 characters. If the name has already been used by another stock item , an error will be shown under the field.
4. In the Minimum Stock threshold field, enter a minimum stock quantity that can be used for things such as alerting users when stock is low. This must be a non-negative value, and defaults to 0 if not entered.
5. Optionally enter any other fields.
6. After filling out the form, click the [ Create ] button to save the new stock item.

Updating Stock Items

To update an existing stock item:

1. Navigate to the stock items screen by selecting Stock > Stock Items from the main menu.
2. Select the name of the stock item in the list to enter the edit screen.
3. Make any changes to the stock items fields.
4. Once changes have been made, the [ Save ] button will activate for saving. A reason for change may be required if the Reason for Change setting is enabled.

Removing Stock Items

To delete a stock item:

1. Navigate to the stock items screen by selecting Stock > Stock Items from the main menu.
2. Select the name of the stock item in the list to enter the edit screen.
3. Select the three dots menu icon and select [ Delete ].
4. Confirm the deletion by clicking the [OK] button on the dialog.

Deleting stock items will also delete any associated batches of stock for the item.
